Biographical Summary Statement Richard D. Crowson Richard Crowson is currently a Research Mechanical Engineer working in the civil, structural, mechanisms and fluids analysis group of ASRC Aerospace at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. His responsibilities include analysis and design of structures, mechanisms and foundations for Ground Support Structures to support the Constellation Space Program for NASA. He has worked as the Director of Research and Development a FPD and Semiconductor photomask manufacturer and a major industrial laser manufacturer of five years in Orlando, Florida. He is the past Chapter Chairman of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, local Chapter 336. He has been inducted into SME’s President’s Circle and is a recipient of an Honor Roll Award for the outstanding accomplishment by the Manufacturing Engineering Certification Institute for the period of December 1998 to December 2001 and again from December 2001 to December 2004. He is a Certified Manufacturing Engineer and Certified Manufacturing Technologist. He also holds a current level IV certification in Mechanical Engineering Technology awarded by NICET, an organization sponsored by the National Society of Professional Engineers. He has worked in the field of engineering for over thirty years especially in the area of lasers and development of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. He has experience leading multidisciplinary engineering product development groups for the Robert Bosch Corporation – Automation Division, RTS Wright Engineering, Accudyne and other companies specializing in Laser integration and Semiconductor equipment manufacture. His formal engineering training includes academic undergraduate and graduate studies at major Universities including the University of Alabama at Birmingham, University of Alabama in Huntsville and Florida Institute of Technology. He presented and published technical papers at Display Works and SemiCon in San Jose, California. He is currently under contract with CRC Press to edit the four volume series of books entitled second edition of The Handbook of Manufacturing Engineering.
